Cyberpunk 2077 finally lets Stadia prove itself as next-gen hardware struggles

After a majority of a decade of development and several delays this year alone, the massive and highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red is finally available to everyone.

However, performance issues endemic to Cyberpunk 2077 have brought Stadia to light, and for once, it's forever.

We've spent a lot of time talking about Stadia this year, going through the ups and downs of the new platform. However, at this time, Stadia hasn't had a bigger test or more opportunity to prove its detractors other than Cyberpunk 2077.

The hugely massive game is a test of whatever material it puts on it, no matter the reason. This is a next-generation controller. Like a PlayStation 5 or a fully stock gaming PC with the best hardware from AMD and Nvidia.

The sad truth about Cyberpunk 2077 is that games are so large and require a lot of gaming devices in consumers 'hands today that they cannot handle it properly, and the last 24 hours' really showed.

Performance issues are becoming so widespread, especially on the latest generation of consoles, that even the upgraded PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are barely acceptable experiences. Even Jane Park, a gaming reporter for The Washington Post, suggested that the Xbox Series S's performance wasn't great.

As we showed you last night, Google Stadia treats Cyberpunk 2077 like a champ, with no performance issues in our initial testing and only a few random in-game bugs here and there.

It's no secret that this game as a whole has issues and bugs on all platforms, but performance issues affecting other systems don't seem to affect Stadia, as it runs at either 4K / 30 or 1080p / 60 resolutions

But you don’t take just our word for it. The general consensus out there is that Stadia is perhaps the best place to play Cyberpunk 2077 right now.

Those who had a negative impression of the service at launch or have been known for cracking jokes at the platform’s expense have come out today to give Stadia credit for how it handles this intensive game.
